Total Niceness ................................. A Brief History

Total Niceness started out as a back room project for the Intergrate raves that we were doing in the early nauties. We aquired the name from something we heard goldfinger saying on the radio a few years before. Started by Delsa and Luke Envoy, with support and encouragement from Benergy; the aim was to provide somewhere to chill out and wace about smoking spliffs and generally getting high whilst people were dancing like nutters to techno and such in the main room. Musically we wanted to provide a diverse selection of laid back but bassy music that you could dance to or just spin the fuck out. The early parties included sets of tripped out nu skool breaks and electro from myself and the Breaks Proffesor, drum and bass from Luke Envoy and fucked up electronic house from Tarek, as well as Vince and his totally horizontal philosophy. We recruited many miscreants on the way and slowly morphed into a party in our own right when we finally knocked intergrate on the head as we had become to lazy to dance to fast music anymore. Staring out at the mighty Medusa club in the back waters of Brixton, we then moved around such esteemed venues as the Imperial Gardens, The Viaduct, Jamm, and Mass and many dodgy places in between. Finally in 2004 we moved to a permanent home for Total Niceness at Inigo in Battersea and pushed the more dance floor sounds whilst still keeping the total niceness eclectic approach to music policy and selection. We moved on from Inigo after 2 happy and successful years and on to the White Lion in deepest darkest Streatham where we have spent the last year but we are now on the move again in search of a new home much like the inhabitants of the battlestar galactica, except we were not forced to flee by the cylons, rather by the incredible ineptitude of some the White Lions staff and security and by some of the proper inbreds that seem to inhabit streatham high road of a Saturday evening. Some of the reprobates who have played and contributed to Total Niceness over the years include in no particular order although Benergy does deserve special props: Luke Envoy, Idle, The Breaks Prof, Paul Torch, Gillotron, Tarek, Smut Roast, Rob Focuz and the apply the breaks crew, Rob Reng, Mjoogoo, Plazadefunk, Shaman, Henry Blocked Nozzle, Woody, Clive Morley (Wanker), LadyKilla, Scuba, Elemental, Deekline, Gus, Dtism, Ms T, Funkbudha, Collins 303, Unique 3, Andy Simmonds, Moldy, not forgetting the Colenal, Clair Honey, and Mike. I'm sure there are more and they will be added when I remember them. Special mentions also go to the girl that Benergy booked who couldn't actually mix, even more props to Luke Envoy though for telling her to get off the decks.
